About me

Me and Echo, the family dogI was born in July 1985, grew up in north Cheshire, England (originally Frodsham, and then Helsby), where I attended Helsby High School. In 2003 I headed south to study for an MEng degree in Computer Science at the University of Bristol. (See also: my degree project).

While at university I became involved with St John Ambulance, starting by taking a basic first aid course on a Saturday morning and moving on from there. I am now a qualified St John Ambulance Emergency Transport Attendant, which means I can crew emergency ambulances, and I regularly volunteer at a variety of public events in Bristol and surrounding areas in first aid and ambulance roles. I have also been involved in a number of volunteer support roles within St John Ambulance, first as a unit treasurer and operations coordinator at the University of Bristol unit, and now as part of a support team for student units at St John Ambulance national headquarters and as Group Staff Officer with responsibility for adult units within Bristol.

I now work in Bristol, in IT security for a large accountancy firm. In my free time, I maintain an interest in computers, technology and the web, and I enjoy taking photographs, travelling, and of course socialising with friends.
